The highest supply of starred hotels is in West Lombok Regency (33), followed by Mataram City (27), North Lombok (8), and Central Lombok (3). Starred hotels in West Lombok Regency are scattered in more mature tourism areas such as Senggigi, while starred hotels in North Lombok are dominated in the Gili Tramena Region. The city of Mataram itself has many starred hotels because of its function as the provincial capital with market access to government institutions and other business activities. HVS Report[1] 2015 titled "Indonesia Hotel Watch" notes that the southern coast of Lombok Island has quite a number of hotels in the upscale category. This has become one of the factors considered for choosing Lombok's South Coast as one of 88 KSPNs. Starred and non-starred hotels on Lombok Island each represent 96 percent and 80 percent of the total hotel supply in NTB Province.

In 2017, there were 796 hotels (starred and non-starred) on Lombok Island, with a total number of rooms of 11,582 rooms. CAGR[2] hotels during the period 2011-2017 reached 6 percent, while CAGR number of rooms was recorded at 7 percent. Based on the latest MADA data, growth in the number of starred and non-starred hotels between 2016-2017 increased higher by 12 percent and 6 percent respectively, which contributed mainly from hotels in urban areas such as Mataram. Growth in the number of rooms was recorded the highest between the years 2012-2014, at the rate of 10 percent. The growth in the number of rooms is in line with the increase of the average daily rate (ADR) on Lombok Island between 2012-2013 by 13 percent. However, hotel and room growth in 2018 is expected to be low due to the earthquake in Lombok.

On the other hand, based on the MADA report in 2016, the average length of stay (ALOS) in every hotel unit in Lombok declined. This happens along with the growth of various new destinations and attractions so that tourists choose to switch places to stay. This trend continued into 2016 where ALOS for starred hotels declined from 2.64 to 2.08 a night and for non-star hotels from 2.03 to 1.74 a night.

In 2016, the NTB Provincial Government succeeded in creating tour packages with attractions outside the well-known destinations in Lombok, especially cultural attractions. This also led to an increase in ALOS of foreign tourists from 2.08 to 2.50 a night, and wisnus from 1.74 to 1.96 a night. However, this increase has not been able to encourage long stays in Lombok to match Bali, which has ALOS 2.90 and 2.30 respectively for foreign tourists and tourists in 2017 (BPS Bali, 2018).
