Four Events in NTB Included in KEN 2023
Mataram (Suara NTB) – A total of four events in NTB Province are included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2023 held by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf). The four events are Nyale Bau Charm Festival, Senggigi Sunset Jazz, Gili Festival and Topat War Festival.
Head of the NTB Tourism Office Jamaluddin Malady said, he represented the Governor of NTB at the KEN launching event which took place at the Plaza Keong Emas TMII Jakarta, Saturday, January 28, 2023. The launching of KEN 2023 was opened by President Joko Widodo virtually which was attended directly by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Sandiaga Uno, Governors, Regents/Mayors throughout Indonesia, Kadispar and other stakeholders.
"Alhamdulillah, NTB Province received four Nusantara Events in 2023, namely the Nyale Bau Charm Festival, Senggigi Sunset Jazz, Gili Festival and Topat War Festival," explained Jamaluddin Malady to the media, Monday, January 30, 2023.
Related to the removal of the Tambora Festival from KEN in 2023, his party actually proposes that the event enter KEN every year. However, the one who determines the entry or absence of events throughout Indonesia is the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia on the proposal of an independent team.
"We can propose this Tambora Festival event next year again," said Jamal.
The target of tourist visits to NTB this year is as many as 2 million people and is optimistic that it can be realized with a number of programs that are run. Especially with the potential for the opening of Lombok - Australia and Lombok - Seoul Kolsel connectivity, of course this will add to the optimism of NTB tourism.
"A few days ago, the Governor and several heads of the relevant OPD had met and had quite a heated discussion between AirAsia CEO Mr. Tony Fernandes and the Governor regarding the request from the NTB Provincial Government to reopen direct flights from Pert Australia to Lombok and Seoul to Lombok. God willing, in the near future it will be realized," he said.
Nationally, this year KEN again summarized 110 featured events that have been curated from 291 events proposed by the Provincial Tourism Office throughout Indonesia. The KEN 2023 curation process itself has been carried out in November – December 2022 by a team of professional curators.
Unlike the previous year, the curation of KEN 2023 is based on five assessment areas, namely tourism and creative tourism, innovation and creativity, event management, communication strategy, and business development and marketing.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno at that time said that according to President Joko Widodo's direction that organizing events could be a locomotive or driver of the regional economy as well as the revival of Indonesian tourism.
"KEN 2023 is able to encourage regional revival, I see from every event from Sabang to Merauke, all are able to drive the regional economy, ranging from cultural events, sports events, to also events related to festivals. I also see that the key to economic revival can be done if these events are carried out with higher quality," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
