Central Lombok Dispar: Nyale Bau Peak Night Celebration Supported by the Central Government
KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy supports the bau nyale festival or catching sea worms which is a cultural tradition of the Sasak people in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The Tourism Office of Central Lombok Regency stated that the bau nyale festival has been included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara.
"The celebration of the peak night of Bau Nyale is supported by the central government," said Head of the Central Lombok Regency Tourism Office Lendek Jayadi in Praya, as quoted from Antara, Tuesday (24/1/2023).
According to Lendek, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy did not provide financial assistance to support the festival. The ministry directly handles the festival's program of activities.
"The program of activities on the eve of the summit, including the promotion of Bau Nyale to a national scale to support the increase in tourist visits in Central Lombok," he said.
The bau nyale festival is included in the series of welcoming events for the World Superbike event at the Mandalika Circuit, NTB, on March 3-5, 2023.
"Last year before the peak of Bau Nyale, this year after the peak of Bau Nyale, because the time coincided with WSBK," he said.
Some of the activities of this year's Bau Nyale series of activities such as Peresean, the selection of Princess Mandalika, the Mandalika Carnival, and the peak nightlife of Bau Nyale on February 10-11, 2023.
