PT TWC Borobudur Antisipasi Dampak Erupsi Merapi
PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan, dan Ratu Boko has prepared the steps to anticipate and protect Borobudur Temple construction from the impact of Mount Merapi eruption.
"Since BPPTKG increased the status of Mount Merapi from normal to alert on May 21, 2018, we together with Borobudur Temple Conservation Center have prepared the steps to secure and anticipate the protection of the temple," said the Company’s Secretary Ahmad Muchlis, on Sunday (27/5/2018).
According to him, since phreatic erruption of Mount Merapi a few days ago, there was no effect on tourists visitation to the temple. "There is no significant effect on the temple visitation for both domestic and foreign tourists," he said.
He said, to anticipate the impact of Mount Merapi’s status increase, PT TWC keeps coordinating with Borobudur Conservation Center that has collectively prepared disaster mitigation measures by following the progress of its’ status.
"Including when to put on parachute to cover the temple," he said.
Muchlis said, it is the effort to save Borobudur Temple which is prioritized.
"We hope that Mount Merapi’s activity will be back to normal and there will be no effect on the temple," he said.
Previously, BPPTKG Yogyakarta has increased the status of Mount Merapi activity from Normal to Alert on Monday, May 21, 2018 on 23.00 WIB.
The increase was due to some phreatic eruption accompanied by tectonic volcanic earthquake and repeated tremors.
