Sandiaga Directs Lake Toba to Use Electric Buses for Tourism
Samosir - As a super priority destination, Lake Toba will carry the concept of ecotourism. Later electric vehicles will also be present there.
During a visit to Lake Toba, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno met with a number of regional heads and the Lake Toba Development Authority (BOPDT) to discuss the development of the destination. Sandiaga explained that currently Lake Toba is not only focused on infrastructure development but also human resources.
"The hope is that we can accelerate the execution of the master plan or of this grand plan so that we can prepare Lake Toba as a super priority destination that has not only world-class infrastructure but also quality human resources," said Sandiaga to reporters, Thursday (10/6/ 2021).
In addition, Sandiaga also touched on the concept of nature-based tourism or ecotourism in Lake Toba. "It is sustainable, quality tourism that we will focus on. This is in accordance with the steps so that our tourism also has a positive impact on sustainable development," he said.
This will be seen through creative economy products made from recycled materials. Then a carbon calculator will be installed that will calculate the amount of carbon left by tourists when visiting Lake Toba.
Then, an even more interesting discourse is the use of electric vehicles. This is also to support the achievement of environmentally friendly tourism in Lake Toba by 2023.
"For example, we can introduce electric buses. Many have offered us electric buses, electric-based vehicles, which we can place in destinations around Lake Toba such as Parapat, Simalungun, Balige, and other places. We will divide 8 regencies/cities according to need," said Sandiaga.
